Material: Pencils, paper, notebooks, handout, Notebook computers
Prerequisite skills: Students will use prior discussion, video presentations, and notes.
Goals: Students will answer questions and create diagrams after visiting listed website.
Standards:
History and Social Science:
5.17 A: Describe the major battles of the Revolution and explain the factors leading to American victory and British defeat. (Lexington & Concord.)
English/Language Arts:
2.3: Gather relevant information for a research project or composition through interviews.
2.4: Integrate relevant information gathered from group discussions and interviews for reports.
Technology:
G3-5: 3.1: Locate, download, and organize content from digital media collections for specific purposes, citing sources.
G3-5 3.5: Use online tools (e.g., e-mail, online discussion forums, blogs, and wikis) to gather and share information collaboratively with other students, if the district allows it.

Making Freedom Historical Benchmarks:
·        Analysis of primary and secondary sources
·        An understanding of historical debate and controversy
·        Formulation of questions through inquiry and determining their importance
Procedure:
·        Begin with a review of primary and secondary sources.
·        Students will power up notebook computers and access the internet.
·        Students will log on to listed websites and search for answers to listed questions.
·        Students will watch videos listed on websites.
·        Students will create a copy of the map illustrating the British attack at Lexington.
·        Students will gather five more facts that interest them from the websites.
Assessment:
Informal:
Students will be observed working as teacher walks around the classroom.
Formal:
Students will share answers to question, show maps, and share five facts that they found.
Students will pass in all work after group discussion and sharing.
